    Artist description
TEMPE, Ariz. - Jamie's Brother could quite possibly be Arizona's best-kept musical secret. The gritty five piece band shines as a welcome reminder of how much fun potent, adrenaline-injected rock and roll should be. Since 1994, through pure persistence and raw talent, Jamie's Brother has written more than 70 songs and earned a solid reputation and following as one of the southwest's premiere rock bands. By blending aggressive non-traditional rock with the accessibility of vague commercial pop, Jamie's Brother capitalizes on a wealth of diverse musical influences rooted all the way back to the mid-eighties. The music itself is a smooth combination of intelligent songwriting flair, fervor and ground-down melodic grooves. The band's songs are an ardent mix of musical intensity, catchy hooks, lyrical complexity and disarming melodies. The result is wide-open musical accessibility and total disregard for trendy industry inclinations, with musical instincts and talents that speak for themselves.

    Artist History
While many bands try to emulate the sound of the Gin Blossoms, Jamie's Brother goes outside that realm and offers up their blend of gritty, commercial rock, which earned them the well suited title of Best Commercial Rock Band in Music Voice's Best Of last year, along with numerous performances at Arizona's Best Kept Secrets and Live 'N' Kickin'. This collective group of modest professionals consist of Jeff Harmon on vocals, Chris Wright on guitar, Chris Nelson on keyboards, Paul Ecker on bass, and Michael Ladman on drums. The foundation of Jamie's Brother was started by Wright and Nelson in their native town of Seattle. "Chris Nelson and I went to junior high together and we picked up our instruments at the same time; we kinda learned together," says Wright. " We used to mess around and write songs in high school, then he moved to California and subsequently moved here to go to ASU. This whole time we would fly back and forth writing songs and finally we were at the point where we thought, 'wow, actually we've got some pretty good songs, let's try to do something with it.' I guess our first thing was getting a singer. I was still in Seattle and Chris ended up putting an ad in the New Times; which he got a bunch of people who weren't any good." Enter vocalist Jeff Harmon. "A girl that sort of managed my last band, Island Earth, called the ad and told Chris to call me," says Harmon. "He called me and it sort of just worked out." "We knew Jeff was the guy, so I came down here once or twice and did some recording with them," continues Wright. "The following winter, I was in Montana, Chris and Jeff were down here looking for other members. I decided to move down after that and we found Paul and Michael. That's how it all started.'' Credits to date are as follows: Some limited national airplay due to exposure on The Album Network's "Virtually Alternative" in 1996 and 1997. 1500 spins on Phoenix's 93.3 KDKB with "Drive" and "Reason"/ Won "Best Commercial Rock Band" at the 1997 Arizona Music Awards/ Played at America West Arena during 1998 NHL Playoff game between the Phoenix Coyotes and the Detroit Redwings./ Countless live radio performances in the Phoenix area.

    Press Reviews
"Jamie's Brother have positioned themselves as potential heirs to the Soundgarden throne: alternative enough and hard-rock enough to fulfill fans of both genres." -GET OUT, Phoenix Entertainment and Recreation Guide "Without a doubt, one of the best commercial rock-and-roll bands in Arizona, maybe the west coast. A welcome alternative to alternative." -Phoenix Music Voice
