Artist History
Einherjer was formed in january 1993 by Frode Glesnes (Guitar) and Gerhard Storesund (Drums) . The intention and the goal as musicians has always been to try to capture the atmosphere and the feeling there is to Norse mythology , combined with the intesity of heavy metal music . Therefore we label Einherjer's music as Viking Metal .Einherjer entered the studio for the first time in december 1993 , to record the demo "Aurora Borealis" . The demo was very well recieved by the underground metalscene and it lead to a seven-inch deal with Necromantic Gallery Prod./Damnation Dist . Einherjer entered the studio for the second time in may 1994 to record the singel "Leve Vikingaanden" . As the demo , the seven-inch was well recieved by the undergroundscene and Necropolis Records got in touch . They released "Aurora Borealis" as a mini-cd in 96. 1996 Einherjer signed with Napalm Records. "Dragons of the North" was recorded during the summer 1996 and recieved unbelievable critics from all over the world . A mini-cd entitled "Far Far North" was recorded in january 1997 . It was first release on Century Media. A new vocalist was found . His name was Ragnar Vikse. "Odin Owns Ye All" was Einherjer second release on Century Media . The album reached recordstores in Europe in may 1998.The same month as Einherjer left their native country to kick off their first european tour, as support to Britains Cradle of Filth. Einherjer and Century Media decided to end their co-operation and Einherjer signed with the Norwegian label Native North Records. "Norwegian Native Art" was released in March 2000 and it truly shows the true face of Einherjer. The Art of Viking Metal. |
