Artist description
National touring act, Dropnickel, is a rock quartet that has a clear focus and agenda to put out the most honest, charged, and responsible music they can.
This directive is clearly shown throughout 'Standby'. With vocal and instrumental diversity, Dropnickel has acquired attention from a vast crossover audience.
Dropnickel consists of guitar/vocals, lead guitar, bass/vocals, and drums. The guitar work is melodic and
unpredictable, the rythym section keeps it solid, and both vocalists have their own distinct sound that
compliment each other perfectly when harmonizing. The energy, emotion, professionalism, and musicianship,
that Dropnickel possesses, are all highly notable qualities that Dropnickel prides themselves on.

Press Reviews
"This Minneapolis band plays fast--guitars, drums, angsty vocals make up its sounds. 'Who I Am' is
reminiscent of older Fugazi, with double-vocal duties shared by Jer and Brett, done in a call-and-response
pattern; the hidden funk in the grooves recalls that seminal DC punk band, too. It remains to be seen if
Dropnickel can deliver live the way Fugazi does." - Seattle Weekly 8/27/98
"Dropnickel really isn't an indie rock sounding band, nor are they a punk band. But at the same time, they're
not hardcore, or metal, or any of that. I guess the closest I could categorize their general sound would be that
of alt-rock. Much of this is absolutely radio radio, and super friendly, which doesn't make it bad by any means.
I'm reminded of Helmet during the Meantime/Betty days quite a bit. Musically, Dropnickel no doubt has their
shit together. Tight as hell, and thick and crisp production makes it an incredibly [sic] sounding
record." - Rocket Fuel 7/98
Regarding 'Kyle Quit the Band': "We loved it! Soooo rockin' and and good dude seriously we play it all the
time and for our friends n everything people reallydig it!! Love the arrangment with the cool drums kickin in and
the vocal and the judicious guitar break at the end, sooo tasty! So flattered that you covered our tune and
rocked it so hard, (actually much harder than we..)" - Kyle Gaas of Tenacious D 10/24/98
"Best New Band of 1998" - First Avenue/7th St. Entry
