Artist History
Formed 1997 when lead writer/singer Paul Rogers (signed to
Warner Chappell and BMG) met and fell in love with
Berklee Alumni drummer Adam Wirdzek. Touring with another
band (for the $$)Adam brought in the Mighty Q, guitarist
extra-ordinary whom he played with in a former band.
Several bassists later, they found Glen whom they took to NY and
LA for showcases in 1997. Now adrift in a sea
of pathetic musical talent, the band languishes and longs
for new fans.
Has written 3 songs for a new Fox/MTV type adult cartoon
called "Crawlspace". |

Press Reviews
Nov. 4, 1997 Joey Butler of Nashville's Flipside magazine wote:
"Being a die-hard prog rock fan from way back, I truly appreciate
musicians who play their instruments well, but also know how to
construct a true song and not just a bundle of riffs. Homeboys Clockwise
fall into that catagory. They're closer to prog pop, with lush, clean
guitar parts and harmony-laden choruses, but the muscianship is
definitely there. Drummer Adam Wirdzek spices up many of the tracks with
zany drum fills and off-beats that throw the listener for a loop, but
try as he might, he can't shake the rest of the band. "Let Me Sleep" and
"No Regrets" are indicative of the heastrong rock present here. Both
strike an intricate balance between solid pop songwriting and music
school chops, as does the tons-o'-fun "Painting By Numbers," which
contains a fauz harpsichord descending chord sequence that sucks you
right down to the chorus like any tune worth writing should do. Most of
the songs here do just that. Heck, "IfYou Want Me" is so damn catchy it
should be the next "Friends" theme (yeah, you may be sick of hearing
that song, but doesn't it stick with you?). And their lyrics aren't
anything to sniff at, either. When singer Paul Rogers (no, not THAT
Paul Rogers) sings "Climbing over my realities gets harder when I start
from my knees," I get the feeling that maybe he should write this
review, because his command of the language is gooder than mine. So go
buy this disc. I'm going to buy a thesaurus. Maybe we'll run into each
other at Media Play."

REVIEW OF cLoCkWiSe LA SHOW by Mark Cuevas
"Subject: Clockwise LA Show review
Chalkhertz:
In yet another instance of Chalkhill talent winding its way across the
country, Paul Rogers and his band Clockwise played at the Dragonfly in
Hollyweird just last week. They had flown out from Nashville courtesy
of BMG. I was able to check them out and am happy to report that I was
*very* glad I did. Their stuff is extremely tight, upbeat, and squarely
in the brit-pop style. They have strong vocal harmonies and seemed to
enjoy their time onstage. If you ever get a chance to see them, by all
means check 'em out. I think you'll agree it's good stuff."

CLOCKWISE RECORD REVIEW - Bruce Brodeen
"Clockwise-s/t-Sounding like Toy Matinee meets The Grays and Human Radio
w/ a modern dose of Semisonic to dump into the mix, this brand of
commerical, radio ready pop is going to be appealing to most Not Lamers
as it features excellent production, frothy vocals, clean guitar sounds,
sleepy melodies that creep up on you and tickle you awake as you relax
to the "sounds" of this release. Laid back and not forcing itself upon
the listener, the soft, engaging songs are reminiscent of Kyle Vincent
with a bit more punch and guitars in his arrangements or Jason Falkners
solo debut from awhile back. Very Highly Recommended."
"This is an absolutely brilliant record !" - Magnus Svoderkvist, Independent A&R - Sweden
"If you don't like 'If you want me', you're a drag !!" - Joe Shell, BMG Music publishing |
