Artist History
Originally begun in 2000, Protest of Reality is now a side project of pianist Kevin Rancik, who first began working on the project with the computer program ACID to create music based on sound loops. Although many demos were finished, a coherent end product was never made, and Rancik soon tried starting a band. Plans for it never fell through, though, and he then began working on a solo rock album using his synthesizers and keyboards. However, the results weren't quite what he wanted or expected, so after taking a break for a few months from Protest of Reality, Rancik returned to the ACID program. When the results from this still weren't what he wanted, he stopped working on the project once again. In mid-2003, he began working with it once more, again in ACID. The results this time were actually coming around and the new tracks were much more solid than anything he had previously recorded. By combining new tracks with revamped and redone old ones, he was able to release the albums "Beauty in Apathy" and "Trash Truck" through MP3.com. The albums each feature differing styles and musical atmospheres despite the fact the work featured on both is from the same time frame and track sets.
