Artist description
Jerry, tom and myself have recently completed a self-produced 4-song ep. Right now, I guess we are considering the effort to be more of a project instead of a band, as band usually implies 1 human per instrument and live shows. We have all contributed to the project in several ways by, for example, performing the recording of multiple instruments or recording, processing and mixing vocal tracks. The name the nerve session has been given to the band /project. The songs were created with over 100 miles separating the members. There is no image except for the music, beats and lyrics. Eclectic, interesting, involved and different, but not too hip for the room. We’d like to drink cheap beer with you at a state fair, discussing music of course, and never politics.
Tom and I started with some simple demos of music after we'd both realized that music had drifted too far out onto our lives' horizon. Ideas were random and of different styles, probably because we believe that one may as easily chill to mudvayne or slipknot as they may chill to massive attack or sigur ros. The more solid ideas were sent on to jerry, upon realizing that he had ended his tenure with audio i.d.. The idea to work with jerry was
based more upon collaborating with a good friend rather than hiring a gun. Within 3 days he had written and rough recorded the wall of vocal tracks for an idea that would eventually become one of the 4 ep songs. Jerry continued his assault by adding his vocal ideas to the early demo versions of the songs, in and around early December of 2002. Needless to say, we figured we were on to something as the demos were already becoming more than we had ever expected.
On two separate occasions: the weekend of February 22, 2003 and the weekend of April 12, 2003, we re-recorded the majority of the strings and vocals for the songs. Of course, there are always exceptions, the major one being that the guitars for 'help me' are from the original demo sessions which likely occurred in September or October of 2002. Many of the noises, percussion and effects were added by each of us as the tracks were passed around the table. Tom has spent the last seven weeks mixing, tweaking, adjusting, effecting, loving, smooching, readjusting, checking, and finishing the songs
and completed them on May 31 around 12:45am. We are proud of our effort and hope others may derive something positive from it as well.
Thanks for listening...talk to ya soon.
