The Proof Is In Listening
Standing over 25 feet tall and weighing in at 700 pounds, the Regels exemplify a powerhouse rock ‘n roll band. Calling Chicago their home, the 4 members of the Regels have honed their individual skills and joined together to champion the cause that is “just good rock music.” The band formed in the winter of 2002 and is now playing in Chicago’s premiere rock clubs. Singer Jimmy Turner says, “After months and months of practice, calisthenics, drunken bar fights, and lawsuits, we think we’re ready for the scrutiny of public consumption. Some people ask, ‘how do you guys keep the hope alive in this topsy-turvy world?’ I just say: Sangria, Alice, sangria.”
Now getting airplay on Chicago’s premiere rock stations, 93.1 WXRT and 94.7 the Zone, this 4-piece has been described with words such as lush, driving, well-written, regal, nuanced, layered, thoughtful, damn good, and “holy shit, these guys rock!” They describe themselves as beer-swilling assholes. The Regels sight influences such as old school rockers: Zeppelin, the Stones, and the Beatles; and contemporary acts like Wilco, Smashing Pumpkins, Pavement, Urge Overkill, Sheryl Crow, and Queens of the Stone Age. The Regels feature original music written by an original band.
Check out their debut 4 song demo CD entitled “hiding in plain site”.
