Artist History Hi! I'm Judy. So you're trying to figure out more about me. Elusive me. There's not much to it, really... *clears throat* I'm 23 for now, raised in southern California. I got into classical piano lessons when I was about five years old, thanks to my parents, Buddy and Julie. Along the way, I weaved in and out of different hobbies... but music was always constant in my life. I finally started appreciating what I had learned sometime around my high school years. Through my band teacher, Fundi Legohn, I thankfully discovered orchestral percussion and (drumroll..) jazz! I fell in love with music, and realized it was something that I was pretty decent at making. My first few years of college have been bumpy, switching from a major in Jazz Piano Performance to Mallet Percussion Performance and back again. But in early 2001, I got myself a band and started focusing on songwriting. I hid behind the piano for a couple years with that group. We made a lot of good music together... Which brings us to the here and now. I'm doing my own thing, hoping to heavens that I pull it off. Hopefully, my music will take me places... Hopefully, I'm almost there... Some influences include jazz greats from Astrud Gilberto to Thelonius Monk, to new artists like Ben Folds, Norah Jones, and Fiona Apple. I try to incorporate my musicianship with my own experiences, and hope to communicate stories of love, growth and knowledge through my lyrics.
