Artist History
Despite an increasing public outcry for a
change in station playlists, the nightmare that is
modern American radio continues. Corporate executives
continue to force-feed bland, over polished, and
uninspriring "hits" to music fans across the
country. Is this unfortunate situation the result
of a lack of artistry by today's musicians and
songwriters? According to the members of New
Orleans' everyday tuesday, the answer is a definite
NO.
"Over the past few years, I've discovered so
many new bands on the underground that it's actually
hilarious to listen to the radio," comments bassist
and lead vocalist, Stewart Dowouis. "Why on these
stations continue to underestimate and ignore our
requests for a broader selection of better bands is
a mystery to me. Rock is not dead."
With the help of fellow bandmates Mike Chaisson
(guitar), David Gamble(guitar), and Jeremy Falgoust
(drums), Stewart and everyday tuesday have set out to
do their part in battling this seemingly undefeatable
corporate monster.
"We don't pretend to be something new and
groundbreaking," adds guitarist David. "Everything
that can be done in rock has been done. It's just
up to bands like us to pull all of those influences
together and to create the best music that we can
in a way that will affect people."
Anyone that hears their music will certainly
agree that this is exactly what they are accomplishing.
everyday tuesday's combination of catchy, yet intense
rock songs and obvious individual passions for new
music make this band extremely appealing to those
who are looking for a break from modern radio's
monotony. By blending the power and raw aggresion
of punk and metal with the melodic harmonies of the
80's pop/new wave and the passion and conviction of
emo/post-hardcore, everyday tuesday have set themselves
apart from countless other unsigned bands vying for
attention on the rock underground. Few will deny that
they have what it takes to capture a national audience.
It's only a matter of time before they do just that.
These guys really have paid their dues over the last
decade or so. It hasn't been an easy ride for them.
Back in the early 90's, the four members of everyday
tuesday travelled the southern states promoting the
grindcore metal outfit, Infant Slug. Since that time,
they've suffered incredible personal hardships and
financial setbacks, including the failure of several
musical ventures, the suicide of former Infant Slug
bandmate, and a work related accident that threatened
the future of Jeremy's musical career.
"I was involved in an accident while out on a
jobsite that almost cost me my arm as well as my
future as a drummer," states Jeremy. "Without my
dedication to getting behind the kit, I would probably
still be sitting at home disabled and miserable."
After nursing himself back to health and learning
of the breakup of David, Mike, and Stewart's previous
band, Flowers For Tracy, Jeremy contacted his former
bandmates with the prospect of reuniting. Without
hesitation, they agreed and were soon writing the most
mature music of their careers.
"We rock! The four of us have such a long history
together that this just feels right," says Mike. "I'm
so proud of what we have accomplished already, and I'm
sure we are just getting started."
The buzz around their local rock scene in New
Orleans is proof of that. everyday tuesday entered
Festival Studios in Kenner, Louisiana and recorded a
short ep in the summer of 2003 that garnered the
attention of several fans in need of something outside
of the horrible rap-rock, dated metal, and hip-hop
scenes that have owned their local music scene for
years. They have given new life to the area and as a
result are being showered with accolades.
The current climate of today's music industry makes
it virtually impossible to predict where everyday tuesday
will be in five years. However, judging be their unmatched
dedication, their love for music culture, and their drive to
succeed, it is safe to say that the future ahead looks
bright for this young band. |
