Artist description
Mattick Frick and Nathan Doyle rock. On and off the stage. They have lots of songs and fun. They continue to play/enjoy their music to better the world in such ways as: providing people with music they love, getting kids out into the local scene to have fun, and spreading some of our socio-political thoughts (not much politics yet, but more to come). They are ready and willing to play all shows within reach, and talk to you. |

Artist History
The Welfare Mothers
One day over the summer of 2002 Mattick Frick and Nathan Doyle wanted to start jamming, just for the hell of it, so the two decided to rock out to Leftover Crack and play some Atheist Anthem. Not much came from that, other than a weird funny version of the song. Nathan and Mattick decided to practice a little bit more, and then the two somehow formed a duo (in the beginning of November) and soon needed a bassist. Ian Stuart (of No Reserve) told them of Tony Lucas, who the two had met before. Tony played a rad upside down bass, seeing as how he was left-handed. The three then came up with four original songs and two covers, giving them a six song set for their first show, which was played on November 22nd 2002, after only three practices. The show went well, and Tony then made his departure, which was friendly and mutual, as the band and he are still friends to this day. Their friend Marcel Hamel asked them if they'd play at this Blackline reunion type show, even though Blackline didnt end up playing it. Marcel played some bad ass guest bass on that show, as well as two other shows since then. Their best show by far to date has been the Maine Punx Anniversary benefit, March 29th 2003. A month or so later, their friend Joe McPhillips played guest bass on "Snow" for them at the Anti-Prom. Now Nathan and Mattick are writing new songs and will continue doing so as a duo until the right speedy bass player shows up (preferably a female bassist who can also sing) … but the lack of a bass player will not stop them from playing shows! HEADS UP.
