Artist History derek's twiddlings began in 1985 utilizing guitar pedals that he had from his short lived interest in guitar, combined with a constantly evolving rig of borrowed drum machines, synths, reel-to-reels and sound effects recordings. Teen-age basement recordings were a pivotal part of derek's life and included collaborations with Kurt Heasley (now of Lilys fame) and Richard Chartier (now a successful glitch music artist) As things change, so did derek's interests in music, ranging from punk to reggae to industrial and landing in the early rave scene around 90-91, where the possibilities of a solo rhythm driven artist could be realized. Leaving his local industrial project "Panic Factor" he found his solo identity in a very loop driven project known as "Einmann" heralding 2 releases and the birth of the Lotek Productions moniker and began teaching a couple of friends the finer points of MIDI which later led to the creation of a band known as Substance-P (now evolved several times over into the psychedelic rock act Specimen 37, of Boston) Always one with a penchant for change, releases under the guises 37ghost, spoonbender and bass bomb bandit have been received well by audiences varying from theatrical shows to movie soundtracking, raves, spontanious field parties and mobile PA experiments. Several bands and collaborations have enabled derek to work and perform in Miami, Boston, WashingtonDC, BaltimoreMD, Bruxelles,Belgium, and now Los Angeles will soon be "home" as he joins the digital nomadic tribe that is EKLEKTRO.NET
