Dead Season Biography
Forming in November of 2002, Dead Season is ready to take on the world. Brothers Matt (guitar) and Ian Truman (vocals) from Otisfield, Maine had been mastering their heavy style for years when they hooked up with John Patenaude (bass) from Portland, Maine and Martin Nadeau (drums) from Biddeford, Maine to form the current group.
Influenced by bands like Metallica, Godsmack, and Tool, Dead Season has a unique sound that is heavy, powerful, and uncompromising. Matt Truman creates an array of guitar sound through transitional riffs, ranging from dark and melodic to huge, epic riffs that hit you in the face and leave you begging for more. Using ESP and Gibson Les Paul Guitars with Mesa Boogie technology, Truman is all tone. Coupled with Ian Truman’s low-end pounding vocals, the brothers have created a sound all their own, blending their influences with a modern sound that is sure to please today’s heavy metal/hard rock audience. Ian sounds as if every song is his last, forcing powerful vocals wrought with emotion. His lyrics are dark and speak of inner struggles yet somehow capture ideas of hope and perseverance as well.
John Patenaude, forged from the likes of Iron Maiden and Slayer, blends his lifelong passion for heavy metal with bass lines and rhythm that bring today’s sound something it has been lacking. Matching Truman’s low-end heavy guitar sound with steady finger-play, Patenaude gives Dead Season a solid foundation. Talented “power” drummer Martin Nadeau played in various acts around New Hampshire earlier in his music career developing a fluid, heavy style before joining Dead Season. Taking a 3-year hiatus with the birth of his son Orion, he was just considering getting back into the music scene when he responded to an ad Matt Truman had placed in “Face Magazine”. Without missing a beat he is right back on his game and exactly the drummer that the band had been looking for. Nadeau is the perfect match, playing for the music with his heavy hitting and rounding out the Dead Season sound.
Their 5 song EP is available for $6 along with shirts and other merchandise. Check out the band’s web site (www.deadseasonmusic.com) for info., bios, gigs, merchandise, songs, pictures, and more.
