Artist description
Never mind trying to label them, the Bracketts not only cross lines but redraw them as they bend decades of brittle rock ‘n roll intricacies like flimsy wire around their fingers. Like raindrops falling to a drought-ridden earth, the band sucks the nectar of passion, soul, rhythm, and blues from the music that has inspired them throughout their lives. Their blend of harmonies balanced upon lead guitar, keyboards, percussion, and bass delivers a punch of raw, disjointed but exact melodic song structures that infiltrate the cracks and crevices of modern rock genres. The Bracketts rise above the molds of many modern bands by weaving in and out of, and not attempting to replicate, the sounds that influenced them to become musicians in the first place. They fuse lyrical and compositional talent like that of Squeeze, their music combines the quirk of XTC and the pop of Elvis Costello, and they harmonize as if they live on Abbey Road. The Bracketts endeavor to tie their future with their past and in doing so, their name defines that very bond – the word "bracket" means to tie. |
