Artist History
A band initially came together spearheaded by Smiles. He always wanted music to be his career and after writing a host of songs for friends' weddings and other special events, he decided to try his first recording. After TIGA, another band of his disbanded, Smiles joined with his roomate, Jesse Shaw to form the Prodigal Son, a college rap group. After most of the group members were graduated the group disbanded. They performed extensively in the mid-Missouri area on campus at Lincoln University opening for major groups including Zap- Roger Troutman, M.C. Hammer, and Diggable Planets. A few years later he began working with his younger brother Martin (Lyrical Eaze). They produced Secrets: a rap CD. The performed in St. Louis, Fulton, Columbia, and Jefferson City, MO. After the group was disbanded (performers moved and attended college), Smiles formed Band of Assassins, a jazz and contemporary R&B style band. He has since rejoined Jesse Shaw to continue their musical prowess, writing and performing jazz, R&B, and Christian music. |
