Artist description
We have an original sound that aggravates industry types. Not metal enough, not alternative enough, not punk enough. They've been unable to stuff us in a can, label us, and put us on the shelf. We don't care. Definitely hard core rock.A heavy-ass guitar/distortobass concoction with superman drums for added effect.Vocalist screams, growls, and croons, often scaring audience or moving them to break things. |

Press Reviews
Review of the 555 ep by Chris Jones of Audiogalaxy:Mulched Losenge. The name itself conjures images of a bitter medicine, the kind that sticks in your teeth all day. That’s kind of what the music from the band of the same name accomplishes. At first, a bitter conglomeration of styles, weird psychedelia, and off beat humor that sinks its grooves directly into your brain. At first listen, Mulched Losenge may seem to be another modern-day Rapcore derivative, but further inspection reveals a much more diverse sound. Mulched Losenge’s quirky humor is evident immediately from the title of their new record 555. Coming off as Satan’s white trash neighbors, the band tackles such savory topics as organized religion, commercial radio, and pop culture among others. Choosing a loud and bombastic approach to annoy their neighbor, Mulched Losenge blends the Alt-Rock influenced Metal of System of a Down, with the groove oriented Metal of Faith No More. Moreover, it’s obvious from experience that none of this would work if Mulched Losenge had not turned in a batch of excellent songs. By splicing spacey, head-trip sections among typical Thrash Metal, the songs are given a sense of direction and flow well from beginning to end. The riffs are groovy and there are enough change-ups to keep the listener from snoozing, therefore Mulched Losenge has avoided the staleness that is so prevalent in this genre. Each track pulls from this formula but still maintains a sense of originality. “Panoptia” opens with a funky guitar quip overlaid by spoken vocals that would have fit easily on Angel Dust –era Faith No More, and then seamlessly dives into Thrash territory with layers of echoing vocals and even a few samples. “Only In America” opens with a spacey guitar riff and more echoed vocals, but faithfully returns to the Thrash Metal formula. Other tracks such as “Cherry” and “Jammin’ on the One”, also follow this same track, but are definitely interesting and fit well with the other tracks, but still maintain their own identity. Mulched Losenge is a pleasurable change from the slew of sub par Rapcore acts. Their sound takes that typical sound and strips it away of all the dull pieces, and adds their own twisted vision of what metal should be. |
