Press Reviews
"levelnine is a four piece industrial band from cincinnati...the sound is an apocalyptic vision combining tribal percussion, heavily treated and processed guitars, and distorted bass lines all merged together with melodic vocal tracks and plenty of knob twisting..""Guitars distorted beyond recognition, slow rolling drums and creep-factor vocals similar in style to Tool. Music knocks you around like a blunt object, conjuring images of insects, decomposition, and abandoned factories." Description: Most of the bands featured on the Cincinnati Heavy Music Scene website could be described as hardcore/thrash/rapcore. LEVELNINE falls into their own category. It's very rare for a band to carve out a niche all their own, but these guys have managed to do just that. The music is very moody and emotionally charged. Vocalist Chris Charlton has a very powerful voice that sucks you into his world, creating an aural dreamscape. Drummer Marc Sherlock shies away from the traditional metal percussive style, with his tribal influenced rhythms. Guitarist Chris McGhee draws the listener in with a nice blend of acoustic arrangements and distorted mayhem. Bassist Steven Streit delves deep into territory that most bassists never attempt, adding a rather unique layer to the music. As a group, LEVELNINE manage to create an atmosphere unlike anything I've ever heard before. Their music is not limited to any particular style, and could potentially appeal to fans of many genres. Fans of Goth, Rock, Industrial and everything between could be sucked into the world of Levelnine. Do yourself a favor, go to their website "http://www.level-nine.com" and order their CD right now! |
