Artist description
With their debut album release from independent label Dark Corner Records in mid-May, Betty Sneetch is on their way to fulfilling their reputation as a standout amongtoday?s overflow of up-and-coming musical talents. Since their conception in March of 1997 with the chance encounter of two of its members in a Music Appreciation class, the band has steadily refined its sound, combining the varied musical influences of its now four-member band. Their modern-day connection with Golden-Age Motown, country, riff-rock, and old-fashioned rhythm and blues is obviously apparent with each chord they play and with each lyric they write. It is their group?s eclectic love for music that keeps them from being easily pigeonholed, while also allowing them the opportunity to secure airtime on diverse radio stations such as WARQ (the Rock Alternative), WMFX (the Fox), and WUSC (the University of South Carolina?s radio mainstay). Operating for the past two years solely on the strength of their Hat demo and on the loyalty of their growing fan base, Betty Sneetch has been able to book numerous clubs and bars throughout the Southern part of the United States, and are now ready to up the stakes with their premiere CD Beat the Boomers Down. Betty Sneetch: Beat the Boomers Down is a dedication to the positive aspects of non-conformity and to every individual?s struggle to maintain an artistic soul. This album will almost certainly continue comparisons to Lenny Kravitz, Marvin Gaye, Live, the Pixies, and Fleetwood Mac. Regardless, at every show they play, there will always be several fans singing along with the words, and there will always be scattered couples within the crowd?s mixture, slow dancing to the more mellow tunes. Fans of Betty Sneetch may visit their website and preview new material through sound files, and are encouraged to e-mail the band with feedback.
