    Artist History
When Harper asked Rob five years ago in the middle of the schoolyard, if he wanted to be in a band little did they know that this would be the beginning of a song-writing partnership that incorporates thought provoking Lyrics and hard melodic rock. Starting their first band proved uneventful, mainly playing Jimi Hendrix and Stone Roses covers in studios around Glasgow. With no name, disagreements within the band or any real songs two years later the end was inevitable. However from the ashes rose “Stellar”. With Rob now on vocals and a new guitarist in David “Harkins”, they laid down some demo tracks in the summer of 2000, they liked what they heard and began searching for a drummer to give them the rhythmic assault they needed, and found Craig Hadden. One practice was all that was needed for the three to decide that Craig was exactly what they were looking for. The guys quickly put together a set and booked their first gig at Fury Murrys in November 2000 and were greeted with encouraging feedback. Over the next year they’d play venues all over Glasgow including the 13th Note Club (now Barfly), Nice ‘N’ Sleazy’s, Strawberry Fields, The Cathouse as well as many others. However well things were going the band mutually agreed to let Harkins leave the band to pursue other projects, the remaining members wished him the best for the future and carried on for a couple more gigs. After which the guys decided to take a two-month break from playing live to write new material, a break that turned out to be a year. Being the only guitarist now Rob decided to stand down from vocal duties and the band experimented with a female singer for a while with disappointing results. Agreeing to recruit a new guitarist and put Rob back on vocals they brought in good friend of Rob and Harper, Steph Lewsley. With a stack of new songs and a new perspective on life, the guys decided that a new name was needed and “Wake” was born. In June 2003 the guys went into the studio with the aid of Sound Engineer “Bone” recorded three songs, all of which are found on their eponymous demo. Despite putting in some great live performances and helping create Wake’s unique sound the guys decided the time had come to say good-bye to Craig. So for the time being they’ve drafted in Jamie Webster of Death-metal band Pathogen to help them out from behind the kit, and are ready to take on the world.

Taken from Rawkstar.net Wake Final band of the night, also best of the night. Wake came on stage and jumped into their first song, the same format seemed to be used for most songs, starting quiet then on comes the distortion and thrash away. The band looked confident and had some good crowd interaction, I think they need to vary the pace of songs more. Enthusiastic band that looked like they knew what they were doing, need to cut down on the distortion as the guitar sounded like noise at parts of the gig. Rating: 3/5 Website: (coming soon)
