Press Reviews
A few cult fans of Epitaph were here expressing their interest in what Ruins of Amber were going to be like this afternoon. Featuring a blend of Epitaph and Desolation in their membership, surely this was a formula for success. Delightfully, they produced some wonderfully dark ambient guitar sounds, pumping drums and high-screamed/throat-ripped vocals that fitted right in- which was the greatest delight of all for me. I think that Kev's vocals didn't quite work fully with Desolation, yet his almost "replacement-status" of the Epitaph singer has improved my enjoyment of this group immensely! I would describe the music as a whole as driving gothic-thrash of a high calibre. Unfortunately, the keyboards were rather low in the mix, which is a shame because Epitaph always had some excellent driving keys to look forward to and make your head swim. This was Ruins of Amber's second live show, and prospects are surely very good for their future. The set grew in enjoyment as it went on and climaxed with their final track. Keep your eye on Ruins. |
