Artist History
The brainchild of A. R. Surface, the band began after his return from a year-long stint in Marseilles, France. The difficult year became a catalyst for creative output, and produced at least a dozen songs.
After performing several acoustic solo showcases to packed houses, he became an instant sensation among the musically-finicky Ohio University/Athens coffeehouse/music bar scene crowd. Surface proceeded to form Helvetica is for Lovers with Sarah Householder and Ryan Marshall.
The trio holed up deep below the main Athens thoroughfare, Court Street, in some long-unused office-space-turned-rehearsal/studio space. Sarah's brother Jake produced the album, assisted by Surface, and the result is the debut independent release, Letters.
There are only 1000 copies in existence, and are sure to become a collector's item as Surface and Helvetica is for Lovers begin their foray into the music industry, armed with truckloads of raw talent and moxy. Like what you hear? Buy the CD by emailing helveticaisforlovers@yahoo.com
