Artist History
The poignant experiences of the accomplished singer/songwriter/producer resonate through the penned lyrics of every song, every word a tribute to the pain, anguish, joy or delight of life. With creative, artistic empowerment, Missy Burton of Dallas, Texas transforms even the uninvolved listener into active participant as she passionately illuminates the circle of life's experiences in her newest project "Soliloquy". Ms. Burton's sultry, disarming voice and intense lyrics will quicken the subconscious realm of every music lover as she evokes images of healing in "Yes I Can" and exposes the parody of date rape in "Get Off Me." In the clandestinely haunting "It's No Secret" she illustrates the aching desire for lasting, devoted love.
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in a family of musicians, Missy Burton's remarkable talent and versatility not only encompass song writing, but poetry, children's songs, short stories and two stage productions. The first one (with accompanying music score) is entitled, "She's Not Our Sister" (which made its debut in Dallas, Texas at the Majestic Theater on June 3, 1998). The other stage production entitled "Hidden Betrayals" was such a tremendous success at CATZ Theater in Lewisville, Texas in the winter of 2002, she was invited to do a three day repeat performance of the play in Dallas, Texas at Friendship-West Baptist Church in the spring of 2003. Ms. Burton does all this under the umbrella of her own company, Actual Illusions Entertainment. Actual Illusions Entertainment is a full service entertainment company providing services that range from artist development and music production to technical lighting and sound. Ms. Burton has recorded three solo projects with the most recent one entitled "Soliloquy." Her first CD is entitled "Au Revoir, Butterfly" and the second one, "Diary of a Scorpion." Ms. Burton has received rave reviews in the southwest for her high-energy performances with her dynamic band, Scorpio du jour. Ms. Burton was one of five composers chosen by the City of Dallas to be showcased in honor of Black Music Month in June 2001. Most recently she received the same honor for Black Music Month in June 2003.
In the musical milieu, where innovation and distinctive sound remain vital components, Ms. Burton welcomes the opportunity to publish her work and to utilize her song writing ability to interpret to the world the human experience in lyrical form. Missy Burton... the synergy of written word and melodic quality at its best. Embrace it. Embrace her.
