Artist History Who the f*** is this girl?! Canītell got her name through peopleīs reaction towards her, everytime she would be introduced as a singer. It seemed like people couldnīt really believe that she could sing or even what she can do. Performing on public, the crowdīs first reaction would be just to stare at her, eager to know what sheīs going to do. She would always be judged differently, so the unpredictableness turned out to be her name: Canītell. Growing up inspired by music, Canītell would sing and dance at the early age of 4. But actually she started to sing her first notes as a baby, before she even started talking. He mom told her the story of how surprised she was one day, when she was listening to the radio, washing the dishes. All of a sudden, she heard her baby singing along with the radio. Her mom knew then, that Canītell might become a singer one day, just like her father, when she grows up. Marilou Eusebio alias Canītell was born in Manila on June 6. Having such young parents, they seperated when she was 3. Her mom got married 2 years later and went to Germany. She never seen her father since then. Canītell stayed in the Philippines with her religious relatives and started to sing in the church when she was 8. Although singing belonged to her everyday life, she was first fascinated by modern dance. She would practice with friends during her available time she got, to join dance contests. A sudden change came one day, when she discovered a Madonna sing-alike contest on TV. Canītell was so convinced that she was better than all the candidates she seen so far. So the next thing she did, was to go to the next store and buy a Madonna playback. As soon as she got home, she immediately took her tape player with her to the bathroom and started practicing obsessively on all of her available time. When she was finally ready to join the contest, it was already over. Canītell wasnīt too upset about it, in fact it was the inspiration that got her to concentrate on her singing. One day, as the crowd was getting bigger, peeping outside her window, watching her while she practiced, someone told her to audition at a local band. She went there on their rehearsal day and the first thing they wanted her to do, was to sing a song in front of 500 students, that was her audition. She didnīt hesitate a single minute, went on stage and started to sing along with her dance choreography. The crowd was so impressed that they started to get in the groove and dance. Canītell got the job and by this time, her song repertoire was already from ballade to rock and pop. Later on, when she came to Germany to join her family, she immediately started to audition at different bands, but it all wasnīt what she wanted. In spite of this, she still kept herself busy performing on private and public occassions. Her love to R&B, Hip Hop and Soul music started when she was a child. She would listen to the Jacksons, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire etc. and it grew even more as years went by. She was influenced by Rock & Roll and Folkmusic, through one of her uncles. The Beatlesī, Led Zeppelinīs, Americaīs etc. songs, inspired her learn to play the guitar. She was very greatful for this background because now, itīs very helpful for her when she writes her songs. In 1997, a producer discovered her on a video taken at a party while she was performing and he wanted to work with her so bad. This became her first group which was called Rhythm 4 2 a dance floor project. They recorded 5 songs and 1 song called Oriental Love was released in 1998 under a small label. Canītell was in the experimental process at that time and she worked with so many different artists and producers with different music directions. She even recorded 2 heavy metal songs, trying to find her own direction. Canītell already discovered her writing skills before she joined the project, so she had her own picture of how she wants her music to be. She was glad to join the rapper Touchy to form the group Harmony, after they met at a party. They recorded 5 self-written songs and did shows all over Germany. They developed their writing skills more as time went by and collaborated with different artists and producers. As their music directions and ideas changed, they got to a point of going seperate ways, after two years. Since then, Canītell finally found her own music direction, which is Asian R&B, a new R&B sound combined with asian elements. She immediately recorded 5 self written songs and is now finishing her Debut-Album.
