Artist description
In the Hebrew language the word “wind” (ruahk) is also the same word for “spirit”. When the African Hebrew Israelite prophet Ezekiel went out and preached to his people (breathe upon those slain), he was obeying his instructions from Yah, and by so doing he activated the Word of Yah, allowing the Spirit to flow into him and through him. Ruahk was chosen for the name of this group because it was the Spirit of Yah that brought us together for this recording. A Moment In Time is our way of obeying our instructions to “blow Gabriel’s horn,” and in so doing activating the Word of Yah, allowing the Spirit to flow into us and through us, that we may play a role in marking the end of an age. We pray this work will inspire other musicians, poets, singers, and writers to find creative ways to share their blessings (talents and insights) with the rest of us. The availability of technology and “know how” is such today that one need not wait nor depend on the popular media and entertainment industries to be published or produced. In fact those entities are part of the problem, not the solution. If the Kingdom of Yah has come to set the world in order (and it has), then the righteous must manifest (not just discuss and dream about) regenerative alternatives to the degenerative words and sounds which have permeated the earth. Selah. |

Artist History
On the night of April 28th 2003, three African Hebrew Israelite Brothers came together to have what some would call a “jam session.” For them however, it was a “praise session.” They had come together simply to enjoy themselves and each other as they praised Yah with their instruments, thankful that – given their busy and diverse schedules – they were able to get together at all. The furthest thing from their minds was producing a CD. However, when everything was in place, they turned on the recorder and headed off on a musical odyssey (that went from before midnight until about 5:30 am), allowing themselves to be led by the Spirit of Yah as it flowed in them, through them and around them. Although this was the first time all three had played together, the musical bond they experienced at that moment in time was quite remarkable. When they finally stopped – given the time – they simply turned the recorder off and went their various ways. It wasn’t until two-weeks later that all three of them had had a chance to fully listen to and appreciate the recording. And it was later still before they realized that the music which had poured out of them that night was more medicine then entertainment. Although unplanned, unrehearsed, self-recorded, and unedited, the outcome proved to be as one listener put it “something I could put on and listen to all day. It’s very healing!” In his book entitled The Healing Drum, West African Master Drummer Yaya Diallo reminds us that “The…musician who heals does not necessarily fall back on a repertory of established rhythms. Determining the right music in each case is a highly individual matter. No predetermined formulas are given…” A Moment In Time fits this description. Its accentuated percussion, perfectly woven to the meditative sounds of masterful keyboard playing, will take you on a redemptive musical odyssey. Moreover, the spontaneous and unpretentious nature of this recording is reminiscent of an earlier time when traditional African Hebrew Israelites would come together at the end of a particularly challenging day to refresh themselves by lifting up the name of their God in music, song and dance. |
