and music which will soon follow, it is important to know alittle bit about Omer and
how Max has come to live and breath as a musical entity.
As the 80's represented the dawn of the new wave, synth pop revolution and music video culture,
it also marked a momentous turning point for a young kid named Omer Khan.
Growing up in a predominantly black neighborhood in North York, that danced
to the beat of rap and pop, Omer became addicted to the alternative
sounds of bands like Depeche Mode and New Order, that had an artistic ideology
different or "alternative" from the mainstream..Out of this grew his fascination
with two things-Technology and Alternative Music. Later, So to, did his fascination with harder
industrial acts like Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, and Filter .After years of
toying around in his bedroom, Omer produced a three track demo on a cheap
electronic keyboard and an audio/midi recording software application called, "Cubase"
The title of the disk was " Electronic Industry" and was sent to College radio station
88.1. After some airplay it eventually ended up on an indie talent radio
show, called- "Electric Storm" where it made top-ten playlist status for many weeks.
This was the first steping stone in his musical journey. The second stepping stone came in the Summer of 1999. While at York
University, Omer hooked up with a classmate and both collaborated on the production of
an album under the name "Raging Hormone". The album was entitled-"Electronic Impulse".
This was soon followed by a re-mixed single, entitled-"Cynical Poison Revisted".
These were purely experimental albums and gave Omer another taste of composing, arranging
and producing his own material.. Another reason for calling them "experimental"
was because there was no marketing effort made on either album other than to
a local net radio station, entitled "Woofur.com",where it made top ten playlist,
Copies of the disks, were also distributed to several close friends and key contacts
in the music business who loved the music.Sometime after.Omer and Kashmeer decided
to part ways. A few months later, Omer landed a part as one of the composers on a c.d
distributed by, "Sound Ideas", the world's leading sound effects company. This disk
contained short scores and jingles. Around the same time, Omer landed a contract to
score a short-film, produced by "Avalanche Films", entitled "Simulacrum". It was submitted
to all the film festivals were it received great reviews. As stated, his latest project is a concept
record which revolves around a character called Max, a very cocky, self-confident in your face
type of character. One that Omer can identify with, due to his own experiences in life. In many
ways they are inseparable. Look out for the release of MAX's debut indie disk in the summer of 2003.
In essence
