Artist History
Anthony Doran is a 19 (almost 20) year old singer/songwriter from Cleveland, Ohio. He is getting
ready to release his first effort as a solo artist in the next few weeks. The album,
Tuesday Comes Once A Week, contains what can easily be called his most personal
musical statements to date. It is exciting to see something like this come together.
Anthony graduated from high school in 2001 and decided to take some time off before
going to college. He spent this time working a day job (fast food) and playing with his
band, Mojometer. The band recorded their debut album, Last in a Long Line of Losers,
in that time. Not even a month after Mojometer released the album, the band was put
on hiatus and Anthony was off getting ready to start his own solo project. He was also
preparing to enter Kent State University as a freshman the following spring.
In the fall of 2002, Anthony started working on some new material. He ended up
recording over 40 songs, some of them dating back to his time with Mojometer, and
some of them brand new. They will probably all be released somewhere down the line.
The first set of songs that will be released are the newest of the bunch, and they were all
written for Anthony's sweetheart, Jenny. The album reads like a love letter or a scrapbook
full of pictures and dried flowers. The 17 tracks on Tuesday Comes Once A Week seem
to cover a very personal and candid side of Anthony that a lot of people will appreciate.
If you enjoyed Anthony's songs on the first Mojometer album, you should check out his
solo stuff. As Anthony puts it, though, "I'm done trying to chase acceptance. The music
scene is so weird these days. I'd rather stay the way I am than turn into N'sync just to get
fans. I'm just going to write and play my songs for my girl, and if other people like them and
pick up on it, that's cool."
Are you going to pick up on it ?! |
