Artist description
Jan Quackenbush once told me: "I was the kind of kid who would play out in the middle of the street growing up, you know?"
I didn't know. I didn't know what to make of this statement until Jan Quackenbush showed me what he meant... on his guitar.
U-Boat Attack was the first Squareheads song that I ever heard some 2/3 years ago. I saw a child not chasing after his ball into traffic, but a child desperately chasing a thrill because his mom had told him not to. Jan Quackenbush plays guitar in the Squareheads.
Lead by lead vocalist Anthony Bueon, the remaining three members provide just the thrill that Jan needs. "This cowboy will love you at midnight..." Anthony told me. (I've learned to keep an open mind)
Anthony's lyrics reveal a hurt schoolboy whose textbooks couldn't teach him enough, or anything at all.
The barely likable, almost always unapproachable Daniel Pangman: "I don't even really own a bass guitar..." Could've fooled me.
Daniel answers Jan's tuneful melodies with unrivaled symetry.
I almost wish you were here with me, because the sight and sound of Brian Hildebrand playing drums is lost on you the reader. |
