    Artist History
How did the formation of Now Transmission occur? It all started when a young boy named Ray Labbe met an aspiring drummer by the name of Andy Desmarais in the year 2001. Recognizing that they both had a passion for music they quickly became friends and roommates. After the summer of 2001 Andy invited Ray to join a band he had been playing with. For 2 months they fought and battled to get things going but it never worked out right. The two decided to go it alone and search for other musicians wanting to express feelings and desires few knew about. Eventually a calling from two men came for Andy and Ray. Jim Bradeen and his friend showed much interest in starting a rock and roll band after the summer of 2002. With the completion of a quartet they pushed to make songs and fill their desires. Throughout the fall they created and strived to gel into a team. In December of 2002, Jim's friend the vocalist at the time had to part the band. Although this was a set back for the three, Andy, Jim and Ray would move on and look for a vocalist who could put their heart into what the band had been striving for. Someone who could equal the intensity that these three men had. That intensity and love for music came from Eric Frye. Once Eric displayed his enthusiasm the band was thus completely formed. They all attend the University of Maine in Orono, ME.

Drums, the one instrument that makes sense for Andy Desmarais to play. He has been playing nearly 8 years now, since his freshmen year of high school. Since then he has been rocking all who hear him with drums backed by an emotion unmatched by many. He dabbles in many different musical styles but prefers the rock genre above all others. Now Transmission has become his love in music. The driving force behind all of his new beats. This new venture proves to be the best adventure he has ever gone on musically. Enjoy the pause, and never foget that! Jim Bradeen, the bassist in the band, is a wicked rad dude. He grew up on the raging streets of West Paris, Maine where only the strong survive. Music didn't discover him until 3 years ago, his sophomore year at the University of Maine. It was a band called Incubus (and a guy named Dirk) that made him go to the music store and buy his first bass. Two basses later he currently plays an Ibanez SDGR and rocks through a Hartke 3500 head along with a big ugly homemade speaker he picked up along the way. He decided to join Now Transmission in September of 2002 when his hopes and dreams in the adult film business were cut short, due to something else being too short. Jim's love for music grows everyday as does his knowledge. He is a laid back guy with a laid back outlook and you just have to love him. Who's Eric Frye? A superhero of some sort? Nah. A computer geek with the I.Q. of a rocket scientist? Not even close. No, he's the lead singer of Now Transmission. He was born in Blue Hill, Maine about 20 years ago, a little ways from Machias the town he grew up in. I know you're asking, how'd he turn from the short, pudgy kid he was then, to the ravishing, handsome sculpture of a man he is today? Who knows. All we know is that he picked up the guitar his senior year at Hampden Academy and hasn't put it down since. Strumming his Sigma acoustic guitar all the way into college and into Now Transmission. He joined the band in February 2003 after a couple stints on the solo circuit and a embarrassing tour with a band sadly known as Reddots. He's a sports freak who doesn't go anywhere without his Red Sox hat and listens to his influences Our Lady Peace, Fuel, Creed and Silverchair. He now resides in Old Town with his former band mate. And yes ladies, he is taken. "To dabble in the strings is to make a sense of peace." This is the motto that Ray Labbe lives by. Growing up in the suburbs of Brunswick, Maine Ray had a dream to make music. Although he could be seen at age three playing air guitar to the likes of Dire Straits while watching MTV, he picked up his first guitar 7 years ago and hasn't set it down since. While going through different equipment like Hummers go through mud, Ray now plays an Ibanez guitar through a Line 6 Flextone II XL amplifier that packs a punch that can fully satisfy his tastes. While he has respect for all musicians, his major influences include the Foo Fighters, Creed, Dishwalla, Nirvana, Coldplay, Incubus, Stone Temple Pilots, Radiohead and pretty much any music written by great rock musicians from any era. With a personality to match his wild red hair he is a guy that's matched by few but loved by most. P.S. He thinks Dave Grohl is the man...
