    Artist History
"O Fortuna... My first "techno" track I had heard in my life back in 1989 or 1990 (can't remember). I fell in love immediately with this genre. At the time, I liked every form of music, but techno music felt different to me: I loved computers and technology, and loved fast music, so it just flowed and I spent many a day dancing and blasting beats in my bedroom. At the time i was listening to this, I was very very young, only 10 or so, so I ventured out to the local music store to ask where more "techno" could be purchased. I ended up grabbing some CD's dubbed names like "This is techno" and "London Hardcore". The sounds heard here boggled my mind. What the hell made these noises that could make my skin crawl or cause goosebumps? As the 90's progressed, I became interested in all forms of electronica: Jungle, D&B, hardcore, gabber, happy HC, techno, big beat, and what was eventually to be dubbed trance (my particular favorite style pioneered by Robert Miles)... simply named "pretty techno" at the time. Groups like Prodigy amazed me on the production front, and them along with others like Moby and Underworld soon got me interested in finding out how to make the music myself. I had no money to spend in 1996 on gear. I was a poor skateboard kid that worked as a deli scrub, but I had a computer at home. So I did a bit of research and found out I could make music with a program called a tracker. Essentially it is a DOS-based program in which you load dry samples into a computer and make music from the top down (everything was done within this basic program). I started out making a handful of hardcore, jungle, and big beat tracks, but their quality was laughable at best, but hey, in 1998, I caught my first break and Eddie Baez liked a track that I had brought with me on CD to the Tunnel, and it was played for thousands for next couple of weeks. Doing things this way taught me basics or arrangement and production that I still use. I would suggest this method for any beginner. I went to a very strict High School (Chaminade for those who know), and even made it all the way through! best decision i ever made on that High School. I was then given a full scholarship to Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. The infamous "college experience" was severely overrated to me, every night deciding whether to work or party.. Yea, that's an experience alright. The only good thing that came out of this was my meeting of Jeffrey Duncan, a techno-head that did production with real gear in his dorm. Seeing this gear and how it worked really convinced me to start saving when I could. I must say, I did enjoy a single room, since within 2 weeks my roommate couldn't take me smoking anymore and moved right out. But despite the comforts of home, I went to NYC and registered for FIT, then came home to tell mom and pop what I had just done (and promptly ducked and covered). I started attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in Spring 1998 and was able to squeeze in a full time job to start saving. I was still convinced that my living would be earned my visual art, so Illustration was my major. In 1999, I bought my first synth, the Yamaha An1X, eBay proved useful since I was able to nail it $400 new. I had a better job so $400 wasn't too bad. And wow, what a difference. I now knew what I had been missing. Continuous control over my sounds. I read the manual to Cubase VST and entered the real sequencing world...bye bye illustration (though I did get the degree). Weeks and months passed. I went through the standard learning curve of music production, end finally ended up with my first fully finished and polished single... Love @ 1st Site... I gave a few copies out to friends, including Interface, who had a strong connection with DJ Theo from WLIR's "In the Mix". It ended up in Theo's hands, and next thing I know is it being played on the show that night. Theo and Andre were nice enough to plug my email address, and then enter it into the "9'oclock knockout" on the station, where 2 new dance tracks are played, and listeners call in to vote the better track. 1st Site won 6 nights in a row, which aroused the attention of Seth Lawrence, who called me to tell me he would shop the record. It was then signed to Topaz, as my first single. Since that occured, I have done many remixes in collaboration with others or on my own, including tracks for Moby, Pink, Sneaker Pimps, Daniel Bedingfield, and PPK. During this time, I have switched from PC to Macintosh, and from Cubase to Logic, and love it's power. I have long departed from my old genres, and love to make techno-influenced trance music. Loving the techno percussion and the trance melodies led to this fusion. I hope you enjoy my tracks, past and future. Hopefully they are simply the first of many more to come... "
