Artist History
Mike Bartley, guitarist in the band 'Spinedraft' decided to form a band under different musical influences. Instead of the metal-like sound of Spinedraft, Mike decided to choose a path similar to bands such as Finch and Glassjaw. He asked Spinedraft drummer Paul Scutter to play a part in the band, and also asked good friend David Carmedy. Paul decided he didn't want to play the drums for this band, so he took up the role of guitarist, with David on bass guitar and Mike on vocals. They then came up with the name 'Red Method', it doesn't really mean anything, they just thought it sounded good. There were a couple of people that the trio had in mind to bring in as drummer, and they decided on drummer Tom Fawcett when he came to a jamming session and put drum beats to some songs. The band started writing their early songs, such as 'Broken Link', 'Ventricle' and 'Last Year'. They then brought in bassist Kris Poskett, with David moving to rhythm guitar, but shortly after Kris was replaced with Mecca Geisha bassist Ian Dobson, as Ian seemed to fit the band better. Then RM started getting some gigs with local bands such as Mecca Geisha and Psycho Ex-Girlfriend, and writing some more complex songs like 'No Chances Of Redemption' and 'Promises', and bringing in Graham Rispin to help out with vocals for a few of the songs. Four months down the line, and the band have already progressed a long way from when they started, they are now planning to record a demo to send off to record companies. |
