Artist History OBSCURCIS ROMANCIA (AGGRESSIVE BLACK DEATH MELODIC) The dark path's of poetry make the structure of their music. OBSCURCIS ROMANCIA is the essence of hate against the weakness of all desires. Pain,sadness and sorrow are delivered with extreme hatred in melancholical melodies mix with dark brutal passages... Their own vision of black metal come true when vocalist SYLVAIN,bassist REMI,guitarist FREDERIC and keyboardist PASCAL join in an alliance of madness. 1998 OBSCURCIS was born.After many years of loyal services the drummer left the band for personnal reasons,than JEAN take the place behind the drum during this time of torments. In the dark year of 2001 a demo called "Le règne du seigneur de perdition" was release in the northern land of QUEBEC.Fans,zines,web-zines and metal radio still awaiting with hunger their first album.OBSCURCIS was conquering the MONTREAL metal scene. Since their debut to 2002 many shows had pass with many bands(like:martyr,neuraxis,blastfame,blinded by faith,aphasia and more...)where they forged a reputation of energic and aggressive brutal band performance. Always looking for a rythm guitar since the dawn,it is only at the decay of the year of 2002 that STEPHANE came to initialize the actual line-up and to complete the recording of their first album. In 2003 OBSCURCIS ROMANCIA sign a distribution deal with GALY RECORDS for the release of their first album"OBSCURCIS ROMANCIA" through the vast horizon of NORTH AMERICA. Press Reviews from urotsukidoji's pad review Holy Tap-Dancing-Christ!! This album hit me like a ton of bricks. You know, I still don't expect any great Metal to materialize out of my home country (Canada), even though I have many CDs in my collection that showcase this lands Metal talent, I still always look to European bands to kick my ass. So when a blistering slab of Black-Metal from my own back yard shows up unexpected, I'm always taken a little aback. This is what most would call Symphonic Black-Metal, in the same line as say Cradle Of Filth, but minus the face paint, and theatrics. These guys are more of the "black T-shirt & spikes" type dudes. The band formed in '98, put out a demo in '01, called "Le Regne Du Seigneur De Perdition", went through a load of line up changes, and then finally got this, their first full-length CD out in 2003. The current line up is: FREDERIC LE - guitar, SYLVAIN CORBIN -vocals, STEPHANE BRETON - guitar, PASCAL LECHASSEUR - keys, REMI VALLIERES - bass, and JEAN RUFIANGE - drums. The songs should appeal to fans of bands like Cradle, and Dimmu Borgir, but also to fans of "true" or old-school Black-Metal, as the keys are not over used, and have a sound that is closer to old organs, than the actual synthesizers that are being used. After the initial mellow, keyboard intro, we are blasted into realms of lust and extreme hatred, which are punctuated by moments of darkened melody, and shattered, by blasts of insane speed. The vocal style is a cross between your typical Black-Metal gremlin type voice, and that which was once used by Canadian Industrial-Metalists "Malhavoc", remember them? RATING = 8 Black-Metal (Released 2003) from the darkest hours(www.thedarkesthours.com) Blend some elements from Dimmu Borgir & Cradle of Filth and more underground stuff and you'll get an idea of Obscursis Romancia vibes. OR is the dark sides of love. Yes, those guys are showing their hatred towards love and let me tell you that they are pissed off! Very brutal and heavy and even if the production isn't perfect I really like the sounds. The keyboards vibes add so much melancholy to those songs it sound amazing! The melodie are beautiful even if there's a couple of vicious blast beat! Pain, sadness & sorrows are the 3 words that could describe the felling I got when I listened to this album. I'm not sure if its because I was in the mood for that but I really dig it...Turn down the lights and feel the pain....
