Artist description Katherine (Katie) day Good has lived in Grand Rapids for most of her life. She is a middle child with parents who spend their weekends playing music in church, at weddings and parties, and at home. She began piano lessons at age 6, continued until age 14, and stopped after she began to devote all of her practice time to composing songs. At age 15 she took up the guitar, which came in handy as she traveled to Ecuador that year to live as an exchange student. For the next 11 months, since pianos were scarce, she began to write songs on her guitar. After returning home in the summer of 2001, she formed a band with blues guitarist Matt Young (18) and drummer Peter Musckiewicz (also 18) and has played at school events, youth centers, university campuses, coffee shops and Grand Rapid's Festival of the Arts 2002.With over 40 completed original songs for guitar and piano, Katie hopes to continue creating music and would like to make it available to everyone who wants to listen.

Artist History Raised in a musical household, Jordan and Katie day Good have been playing music together from an early age. Jordan, a talented guitarist, began writing songs for his neighborhood band (now The Jim Crawford Band) in his early teens. When Katie was thirteen and in her seventh year of classical piano training, she followed in her brother's footsteps and began writing songs for the piano. At 16, after returning from a year in Ecuador, Katie teamed up with Grand Rapid's renowned guitar prodigy, Matt Young, and drummer Peter Muszkiewicz. Together they transformed her songs, originally written for voice and piano, into ensemble pieces with a unique sound. They have played at the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts, school events, coffee shops, youth centers, movie theaters and college campuses. In January of 2003, Jordan joined the band in the studio to record a four-song demo. They ended up putting down the band tracks for a full-length album in one afternoon. Their debut album, titled Box of Birds, will be released in early May. The Katie day Good Band has encountered nothing but praise, encouragement, requests for an album and faithful fans since they began performing together over a year ago.
