Artist History
The Moonshine Revellers formed when Jay Dunphy and Matt Bigelow, rehearsing Dunphy's songs in a jamspace in downtown Victoria, British Columbia, invited Chenery over to fill out their folk-rock sound on electric guitar. Chenery, an open mike regular, arrived with his own songs and lead guitar lines.
Even though the band needed more songs and guitar, Chenery's addition didn't make the band complete. The Moonshine Revellers were not cut out to be a power-trio. This folk-rock band needed a bassist.
Luckily, Ryan Steele, who was lurking around the jam space, heard the songs being rehearsed. Steele, who had been playing stringed instruments since he was three years old, went out and bought a bass, entered the jam space, plugged in and started playing. The Moonshine Revellers were born.
