Artist description
We are a nationally signed (indie label Uprising Records) four piece rock group based out of Athens OH/Parkersburg WV. We have been playing shows together since early 2003. Frequently performing at the Union in Athens OH and have one self booked national tour under our belts.
Label press release:
Uprising is pleased to announce the recent signing of "The Pretty Weapons" - a brand new group from ex members of Zao and Eyes Upon Separation. Featuring Corey Darst on lead vox and rhythm guitars, Matt Auxier on lead guitars and keyboards, Tony Akers on bass and Brandon Smith on drums - The Pretty Weapons leave behind the mechanized metallic mayhem of their previous groups, instead, opting this time for beautiful yet somber melodies immersed in ethereal tones of existential melancholy, and wall of sound guitars. And how lucky indeed the world of rock is for these talented musicians change of direction. At a time when most are striving to jump on the latest musical bandwagon and homogenize their sound in order to garner their 15 minutes fame - The Pretty Weapons have stayed true to a unique musical vision that puts them outside any current fabricated scene merging spacious ambient sounds with hard rocking hooks, loud beyond belief even in their softest moments. Those of you who have found inspiration or simple unbridled enjoyment from groups such as Cave In, Joy Division, Interpol, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Jesus and Mary Chain and even Pink Floyd will find a welcome addition to your record collection when The Pretty Weapons First album is released on Uprising this fall.
