Artist History
The 7 piece combo known as CROSSEYED CATS is a group made up primarily of members of the south side bands HOMEGROWN and the GARDEN WEAZELS. The band obtains its influences from blues greats such as Muddy Waters and Freddie King, heavily blues influenced rockers the Allman Brothers Band and the Rolling Stones, as well as James Brown and The Meters. Although the band's name may be new, all members have been playing the Chicago circuit since the 70's & 80's. Singer Paul Lopez did a stint with former Koko Taylor guitarist James Johnson, and keyboardist Jim Caleca has shared the stage on more than a few occasions with the likes of guitarist Ronnie Baker Brooks, as well as his father Lonnie and his long time bassist Biscuit Miller. Crosseyed Cats are rounded out by guitarists Pete Hammon and Dean Beilke, bassist Doug Jensen, drummer Roddy Lopez, and percussionist/vocalist Eddie Lopez. Live, they mix a combination of blues, rock, soul, R&B and funk to shatter both the jam-band and the blues band classifications and take it to the next level and beyond, always maintaining the groove along the way. |
