    Artist description
Shame in the Design is a quintet from the Erie, PA. Starting in October 2002, the band has already defined their style of music, and it is their own. When asked what they sound like, the closest they can give you would be "Emo and Screamo" but they can't really be labeled. None of the members know what style of music they are, and are perfectly happy with it. Come out and see a show or download a few songs and see for yourself what this young band has to offer.

    Artist History
Shame in the Design originated back in October 2002 when Mike Wolfe decided to start a new band after a previous one he was in broke up. He had asked Jon Gassler to play bass and John Kuffer to play guitar, but still lacked a singer. After searching around a bit, Mike approached Matt Machuga to see if he wanted the place. Matt confirmed and they practiced the following Saturday. After two practices, the quartet decided they could create a fuller sound with a second guitarist. Matt recommended his friend Matt Curry to fill the spot. After Machuga asked Curry to join, Curry was at the next practice. The band then began to create new songs and cover a few. On one Saturday night in mid February, John Kuffer announced he was dropping out of the band. Mike, Jon, and both Matts were crushed by the news and said farewell to their bandmate for the last time. After searching for a replacement guitar player and picking up Chris Freeman for a few days, the band decided to stay as a quartet and let Chris go. They remained a quartet and both Matts played guitar and sang. In mid-March, after the band Last July broke up, the drummer, Josh Alcorn, was left without a band. He questioned Machuga about a spot and after auditioning at practice for a few weeks Josh became a permanent member of the team as the new guitarist. Matt then returned to doing vocals only. Since then, Shame in the Design has played their first show and is releasing their debut EP, Setting of Reflections, late May 2003. Where the band will go in the future is unknown, but when it happens, it will be written in the pages of the past.
