Press Reviews
This is much more like it. While so much of the worst stuff we get sent is a lame attempt to sound like the current fad, Trademark are unashamedly dated. Two blokes with some very old technology, they pulse, squeak and throb through some primitive synth pop that variously leans towards Fad Gadget, Dalek I Love You and even 80s weirdos Deep Freeze Mice (a bunch of Leicester Uni lecturers with a penchant for Emile Zola). In some senses this is quite abominable, not to say pretentious, but it's strangely cool with its zip gun robo boogie and deadpan narratives. Maybe the vocals need more cyber-alien nastiness, but overall, not a bad starting point. Nightshift Apr 99 |
