Artist description
The band, PHYLLIS, hails from Southern California and has been described as the sound of the new heaviness. An emotionally intense and aggressive sound mixes with an amazing stage presence to form a furious live show that has become the band’s foundation. Phyllis has drawn comparisons to bands such as Far, the Deftones, Quicksand, and Glassjaw from both fans and critics.
PHYLLIS is made up of 6 musicians. The members of PHYLLIS are: Ryan Smith- vocals / Paul Wizikowski - bass / Todd Smith- turntables / Steve Robison- guitar / Dustin Fant – guitar / and Jason Salvador- drums .
PHYLLIS formed in late 1998 and has been performing regularly throughout California and the Southwest States since the beginning of 1999. They have had the pleasure to perform with such acts as Papa Roach, Alien Ant Farm, Fishbone, Vent, Anyone, Sinisstar, Delinquent Habits, Latin Froz, Will Haven, Speak No Evil and Prizefighter to name a few.
PHYLLIS has recently completed the follow up to their debut CD “Smoovy” with the help of producer Bobby Brooks whose credits include work with artists ranging from P.O.D., Body Count, Zebrahead and Nullset to Michael Jackson and Rick James . The second release is entitled “ a brand new disappointment” and it firmly places Phyllis in the ranks of the up and coming Alt. Metal / Heavy Rock bands. The new material is described as a launch into a heavier more intensely expressive form, a definite growth in music.
