    Artist description
The Shiver sound can be classified within the ranges of Rock/Punk/Alt all rolled up into one original sound that makes them who they are. With influences such as Nirvana, Radiohead, Oasis, and the Rolling Stones, Shiver managed to put their musical personalities and preferences together and come up with something that is all their own.

    Artist History
SHIVER was started about seven years ago during the spring of 1996 by founding band member Chris Wern. He was then joined by his brother, Ted Wern, to take a seat behind the drums. Chris then needed a bass player to complete the trio he was looking for. He turned to Mike Nuget, who he knew through mutual friends. At the time, Nuget’s former band had just broken up, so it worked out great. Around 1998, for about a year Shiver had kinda broken up. Everyone was just doing their own things for a while. Once they came back together The band started writing some more originals, but realized something was missing. That’s when they asked Rocco to come aboard. This was also when Nuget was itching to make the switch from bass to guitar and Chris said he didn't mind taking over the unfilled position. Rocco and Nuget had been friends throughout high school and had also previously played together. They decided that his raw guitar playing would be a great addition. So Rocco was added to the lineup and the Shiver sound was now in the process of becoming what it is today. Shiver then started playing local gigs around the LI area and if you are at all familiar with the LI music scene for original bands, then you already know how small it is. Anyway, they played a few shows and did some 4-track recording on their own while also producing some studio demos. Some of the shows that Shiver has played in the past were CBGB's, The Village Pub, Lakesides, Bald Hill, Skooters and a few others. At the present time, Shiver has just finished their latest 7-Song EP entitled “The Way We Are”. From start to finish it is the very melodic and diverse sound that best sums up what they are about. Shiver is currently in the process of booking gigs around the LI and NYC area and are very eager to have their music heard.

Good Times Magazine SHIVER - NRW MUSIC "Shiver is a rare breed. They dedicate themselves to heart-warming pop in a world dominated by rap/metal hybrids. With each listen of Shiver, one's faith in upbeat and lifting music is slaked. With this in mind, the disc kicks off with "In Your World" espousing bouncy notes in the Blondies/Ramones vein. Old-fashioned production values are the touchstone to this CD, and stripped-down guitar work heightens the intro track. "Friend Of Mine” rocks with 70's sensibility, highlighted by back-to-basics drumming and forceful vocals. 'My Day" has a long, guitar-driven intro leading to the alignment of both the instrumentation and vocals on the same plane. "What I Used To Be" is edgy with a fluid bassline and guitar god homage(kudos to Jimmy Page?). This cut is outstanding and original, expanding the group's horizon from pop to rock to harder rock. "Neverending" borders on similar, but it's a good effort, with tye-dye hooks and smart chord changes. The trippy guitar solo is transcendental, crossing the pop/soft metal axis. "Slip Inside" is a new wave out-take, true to the bands stance. Their roots are soaked in the Replacements songbook, they borrow(or nick) from early Smithereens, and the lyrics are simple and understated. Shiver scores high in melody, musicianship, and heart. They are a formidable presence to reckon with." - Rikki Lana
