Artist History
KONEKO is a solo artist whos music is a frenzied mix of electro, rock, synth-pop, punk, and new wave that could be described as pop music for the new millenium. Grab your glitter and get ready to rock, because the sounds he creates are so danceable, you'll be shaking your ass in no time!
Koneko used drum machines, keyboards, guitars and other instruments to create a charged, and moody new wave experience. Exuberant as well as lush crooning vocals weave complete the sound. With lyrical subjects of which SOFT CELL circa NON-STOP EROTIC CABARET would be pround, Koneko weaves the darker depths of personal experience of love and lonliness with an upbeat and youthful exuberance.
Koneko harkens back to the 80's, citing influences from SOUXIE AND THE BANSHEES, DEPECHE MODE, NINA HAGEN, and NEW ORDER. He also appeals to fans of current acts such as CHICKS ON SPEED, PEACHES, THE FAINT, BJORK, as well as fans of the new ELECTROCLASH movement.
Koneko turns on the charm during his live show, incorporating rock and roll performance art and sex appeal into his act. (also, rumor has it that he is getting together a backup band!) Koneko appeals to a wide audience and seeks to be booked with underground electro artists, as well as mainsteam pop acts. Koneko has played a number of shows in and around NYC .
Koneko is currently booking shows to support his debut EP "Glamour is Revolution" released in January 2003 on BANAZAN RECORDS. |
