Artist History
While guitarist/lead vocalist James Brady studied music and marketing at Lansing Community College in Michigan, he took private lessons from Dave Dipietro (guitarist for TT Quick and Nuclear Assault). Deciding to make the move to the West Coast to be closer to the networking industry clique in Los Angeles, he started auditioning for established acts around the Southern California area. Discouraged with trying to find a band to join that had the same vision and musical influences as himself, James decided to start his own project and hooked up with bass player, Carl Owens. Since the duo were both working together at Carvin Guitars, they started writing and rehearsing together while searching for a drummer.
Officially formed in January of 2000 in San Diego, California under the name Juiced, they enlisted drummer Ric Lake to join the fold. They immediately went into the recording studio to track 4 songs they had written together. As soon as the recording was completed, drummer Ric Lake decided to leave the band due to a difference in musical direction that the band was driving toward. The band started auditions for a new drummer and acquired Bert Brandi. He had a small home studio and the band recorded a new three-song demo with Bert so they could start playing out live. Within four live shows, the local San Diego music scene started creating a huge underground buzz on the band. Juiced spread their infectious, addictive grooves by burning hundreds of CD copies of their demo and giving them away for free to everyone who attended their shows. As their popularity increased, so did tension within the band which eventually led up to drummer Bert Brandi being let go.
In need of a new drummer, James contacted former 24-7 SPYZ (Atlantic/Eastwest Records) and Shockhead (Indivision Records) drummer, Joel Maitoza to see if he would be interested in joining forces with the band. Joel caught Juiced live with their former drummer when they opened up for a band he was managing and asked the band if they would be interested in having him produce their debut album, which they were writing songs for. Since 24-7 SPYZ was a main influence to the Juiced style of songwriting, they accepted Joel as the producer for their debut album, as well as their official drummer. Carl Owens left the band just as recording wrapped up and was quickly replaced by Roz Taylor. At this time, the band also changed their name to Crown 10 after discovering another band in PA named Juiced who had the name trademarked.
Combining rock, funk, jazz, blues, and any other form of music that suits their mood, Crown 10 have created their own multi-genre niche that fits into any atmosphere.
The band has just completed their debut album, which will be released in the summer of 2003 with hopes of a US tour to follow.
