Artist History
My father bought my brother a Trump electric guitar, modeled after Paul McCartney's Hoffner bass. He never played it so I asked my Dad if I could have it. Along with the guitar he gave me a years worth of guitar lesons.
My mom plays the piano so I had access to a piano all my life. Even I have had few formal lessons, I have been playing piano since seventh grade.
Most guitar and piano is self taught by listening and then mimicking what I hear on radio or albums.
My parent loved musicals so I was exposed to musicals from an early age. We also went to church regularly. My favorite part of church, to this day, is listening to and singing music. Musicals and church music are great music training.
My first album was Abbey Road by the Beatles. I receive a cassette player and cassette version of Abbey Road as my 6th grade Christmas present. I was the coolest kid in 6th grade because of it. I think I must have been asked to play Come Together, with its cool bass line, a 100 times. It made me popular. Needless to say, the Beatles are my all time favorite band.
