Artist description
Savage and beautiful, Autumn Wind Thesis writes poetry of suicide, regret, and hunger to a backdrop of caustic hardcore metal guitars and unpredictable rhythms. Screaming desperation dissolves into melodic acoustic ballads and resurges into driving militant breakdowns.
Formed in western Pennsylvania in mid-2001, it was always the goal of Autumn Wind Thesis to compose pure emotion. To take turbulent feelings, thoughts, and dreams and express them without the limitations of verse-chorus structure or mainstream and overused methods of songwriting.
The first release from AWT, Telling Stories at Dawn, is a ten track experiment resonating all of the musical passions of this four piece band. Songs ranging from the crushing seven minute rant on religion and morality- Let Slip Salvation, to the alarmingly peaceful piano interlude Feathers Cast to the Ground, to the deep and flowing artsy rock of Song for Ashley/ Song for a Fuse.
But the future is where the real potential lies for Autumn Wind Thesis. Already turning to philosiphy and literature for the inspiration for new material, and incorporating a string section into their music, Autumn Wind Thesis hopes to expand the boundaries of not only all heavy music but also the minds of their listeners.
Visit their website at www.autumnwindthesis.com and witness them live the summer of 2003 for an impassioned and insane show that rivals watching buildings fall. |

Press Reviews
Dirt Culture Magazine, Issue 8, march 2003. "So we get elements from all over wrapped up in this nice CD package. At first I thought that there was a bit of early Metallica-ish thrash starting the disc off, but that was heavily contrasted with screaming grindcore-like vocals, noisecore musical elements, somewhat like Living Sacrifice. Then, of all things, they break into folksy indie/alt rock interludes. So what does that tell you? This outfit is a noisy hardcore metal bunch that like to take breaks and give us a little of their softer emotional side, then, when you aren't looking, smash your face in with a sonic assault. I congratulate them on this self released number and you should too by checking them out." |
