Artist History
The B.E, also known as, The B.L.A.C.K Experience, is one of the most progressive groups to emerge out of California. B.L.A.C.K is an abbreviation for Beats, Lyrics and Conscious Knowledge. These four elements describe the love and progressive renaissance of a culture. The B.E consists of two MC’s and one spoken word artist (Lyrix, JDC, & J.Crow). Together they are bringing a new standard to the average hip-hop group.
Since the inception of the group, in 1992, they have maintained an active role in both the Hip-Hop underground as well as many mainstream arenas.
Some of their formal achievements include:
*Reviewed in the demo section of Music Connection Magazine (May 26-June 8, Pg.70) 2003
The Music Connection reviewing committee called The B.L.A.C.K. Experience, “the best sounding rap demo we've heard all year!"
*Featured as a rising artist on Steve Harvey's "Sign of Things to come" compilation (MCA) 2002
*100.3 The Beat Summer Jam performance 2002
*Best local Rap Artist (nominee) for the 100.3 The Beat Hoodie Awardz 2001
The B.E has shared the stage with many of the music industry's hottest Hip-Hop and Rap performers: Run DMC, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, KRS-One, The Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, and many more. They enjoy a wide range of music production from such producers as Trevor Lawrence Jr., Cash, The Mystery House, and Charles Randolph.
The B.E's vision for the new millenium reveals a New Testament to the ongoing struggle between ‘Real’ Hip-Hop and Commercial Rap. Their slogan, "Rip-Hop", encompasses the original, raw, and creative nature of the culture Hip-Hop. The B.E's interpretation is classic, cultural music, for peoples of all ages, race, gender, and musical tastes. Real music for real people!
