    Artist History
The BAIT tale is a long and meandering one, and for that we make absolutely no apologies whatsoever. For a full history, check our site, http://www.thebaitvoid.com. Things have never felt so right in the BAIT world, the new sound is heavier, more intense, darker, with a more hardcore vibe. The band are finally ready to hit the stage and new recordings are immanent - it may have taken a mere 12 years, but they've only just begun...

Bait - 'Every Lie I've Ever Lived' CDEP ----------------------------------------------------------------------- RAW NERVE Webzine - http://www.rawnervepromotions.co.uk --- Some excellent artwork accompanies this CD, made by Bonehive Designs, and Bait do impress quite soon in. Actually very difficult to compare or take in at first. Comes across like some of the European new school hardcore bands, simple riffing, but with a big dirty, chuggy sound, and with top sounding distorted screams, and the production is excellent and very strong. I guess musically it has an element of Hatebreed, a touch of Born of Pain and Snapcase, vocally it's a bit harder than those bands, and has a fair metallic edge to it too. Very strange concoction, but the opener "...and I'll be its dog" is a bit of a stormer, and with "Memoirs of a pack animal" having a big dramatic start and kicking in with reminiscences of Turmoil, this EP continues on in fine, animal related style. Has that Neurosis style hypnosis going on as well, repetition of just a couple of notes, and build ups within those notes, then moving off with slightly off-kilter sounds, certainly quite Swedish hardcore inspired, (Breach, Nine, Refused). Altogether, quite a disturbing listen. And, here in Raw Nerve Towers, this is what we especially crave. Harsh music, to make the brain bleed. Now, this isn't the most intense thing I've heard, but there are definitely some awesome moments, and very brooding, psychotic, schizophrenic sounding, even edging up at times to remind of Today is the Day, Mastodon and Cable (old-Hydrahead band, not the punk ensemble). Also for fans of Kindred / Enemy of the Sun, the now defunct Belgian bands, this will be a relevation to you, especially the final track "Cathode". A top EP, and I most definitely want to hear more from this three piece. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ROCK SOUND magazine - 9/10 --- Formed as a side project in the early 90's, Bait's ranks were once swelled by Extreme Noise Terror / Napalm Death man Phil Vane on barking duties. Now slimmed down to a three piece, comprising Vane's fellow Optimum Wound Profile bandmate Steve (Snapa) Harvey, ex-Subvert skin-pounder Nick Barker and Deviated Instinct guitarist/programmer Rob Middleton, second demo 'Every Lie I've Ever Lived' is a crunching slice of old school metallic hardcore in the vein of Integrity/Voivod. There's a touch of grind and industrial in there too, with some of the most infected vocal cords ever, suitably rounded off by stunning artwork.
