Artist History
O.C.Y.C. was founded in August of 1997 with it’s first sketch show at a small club called the O Bar in Chicago, IL. And no, the O Bar has nothing to do with what
O.C.Y.C. stands for. The show starred Matthew Filipowicz and a handful of friends he met at an improv class at the Annoyance theatre. In February of 1998, Tim Grimes joined O.C.Y.C.. Shortly thereafter, the rest of the group abruptly quit.
That however was the beginning of the nucleus that heads O.C.Y.C. to this day. Matt and Tim wrote and produced countless shows all around Chicago and were eventually named “Critic’s Choice” by the Chicago Reader.
In 2001, Matt and Tim, now joined by the lovely and talented Jill Jackson, relocated the troupe to New York City. There they were soon joined by native Texan, Syd Cook and Matt’s cousin, Kansas City’s finest son, Tony Filipowicz. They have entertained nearly dozens of people with their little skit shows at the Collective Unconscious, the Producer’s Club, Rififi & the 5th Floor Theatre. |
