Artist History
joe reilly began playing music at the lonesome age of twelve after receiving a guitar as a christmas gift one winter. after giving up his belief in santa claus and falling further into the puberty abyss, he met some people that made impacts on his life. he called these people his friends. some of his summer days were spent in marine park writing with the band, echoic. other summer days were spent questioning girls and having girls question him. these questions helped his writing develop from silent to expressive. in his sophomore year of high school, he wrestled with inspiration and eventually began dating her. he spent the frozen winter writing miserable songs that made his eye sockets bleed. through the next five years, warm summers and cold winters were spent fighting with air and crying in snow. one day, joe reilly woke up from a bad dream and booked his first solo performance at the triad lounge in new york city. moderate crowd response and increased confidence did not lead him to believe that he could record a full length album. the end of the warm summer led to his walking away from the comfort of inspiration. in his sophomore year of college, he wrestled with new experiences and was eventually left with nothing. he spent the frozen winter writing miserable songs that made his lungs bleed. around this time, he began contriving the concept of the unforthunate underweathered schoolboy crisis. the one thing he still had to keep himself sane was not Jesus believe it or not, but actually reflection. new experiences caused him to think about the next times and not agains, as well as the could've beens and past elevenths. he then sat and recorded an album in five weeks about a time that lasted five months and was written in five years. |
