Artist description
Based in Denver, CO, Curious Yellow is an original rock trio made up of musicians from various areas of the US. With a unique style of music that has been described as a subtle mix of Brit-pop and "emo" Curious Yellow has been categorized with bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate, Radiohead, Jimmy Eat World, Built to Spill and Coldplay. Moving between smooth rhythmic ambience to aggressive, harmonious guitar crunch, they have created an influential style all their own. Started by singer-songwriter Adam Lancaster upon relocating to Denver in 2001 from Minneapolis, the band has gone through a few line-up changes until finally finding the solid and like-minded musicians, Gregg Rosenthal and Samantha Donen, whom are a perfect match for Adam's "no-nonsense" and emotional brand of songwriting. Quickly receiving positive interest from the local music industry, in the first year of the band's inception they have opened for popular national acts such as The Samples, Built to Spill and Tinker's Punishment; consistently attracting new fans with their dynamic music and emotionally charged live performances. With a solid line-up of musicians ready to take their project to the limits, Curious Yellow has recently recorded its first e.p. with acclaimed local recording artist Eric Shiveley at Desert Air Studio. Entitled 1-2-3 GO GO GO, the 5 song CD is set to be independently released in July 2003. |

Press Reviews
"These local guys from Denver know how to create indie
rock. With sounds ranging from Modest Mouse to Built To Spill,
Curious Yellow is making a name for itself.
Curious Yellow is like so many local bands in Denver yearning to be heard. With a strong
three-song demo under their belts, the band is on a good path on getting some exposure.
With the Czars and Apples In Stereo coming out of Denver as big players in the indie
scene, Curious Yellow will try to match their success. From the little that I have heard, I
was impressed by the professional level in which their songs were structured. Although
the tracks are only demos, they present the style and composure that most local bands
around lack. You can very much tell the band has been influenced by some of indie
rocks finest, but Curious Yellow has their own brand which I respect."

"Curious yellow, is a band that kind of represents a prebornbaby. Their music, and direction is way ahead of it's birth. When that birth happens on the national or local scene Curious Yellow will be way ahead on setting the trend."

"Colliding sweet brit-pop with balls-out rock stylings, they're definitely on their way to stirring up the indie rock pot in Colorado and beyond."
