Artist History
"I got my degree in music theory and composition at The University of Texas at Austin. I'm 39, a divorced father of two great kids. I grew up in Texas. I now live and work in Kansas City".
"I wasn't really satisfied just composing ambient music. With so much available that's calming, soothing, healing, I didn't see a need for more of that".
"My desire to set off in a totally new direction meant avoiding cliches like the circuit club sound, or the gothic dungeon, or even horror film music. All of those are completely valid art forms but they've been done and done to death".
"I also don't like to be controlled by rhythm tracks. These days it's too easy to get a drum beat (someone else's) by pushing buttons. Some people really appreciate that my music is a totally free-form. There's plenty of club music available so I won't use canned rhythms or rifts. I prefer my own."
". . . this is uninterrupted, suspense music written to be background for dark, sultry BD/S&M play. It isn't meant to grab your attention. But it's inciteful and very cinematic." |

Dark, Ambient electronic mood music. This first release by Anderson instantly takes the listener on a journey into a realm of the dark unknown. Combining elements of Ambient, Industrial and various eclectic and experimental self contrived electronic audio structures and even utilizes some tribal elements.
If you like music like Patrick O'hearn's album Indigo then you will love Robert Anderson's work as this is the closest comparison I could possibly make to this album.
You will find some New Age elements prevalent on some pieces while others are more tribal or industrial sounding. This is definitely great mood music for whatever purpose; meditating, massage, trance, sexual intercourse, etc. The sounds are so originally constructed that they create a virtual landscape for the mind to contemplate, dark though it may be. The themes may even instill fear in some more timid listeners but will sound ethereally beautiful for those who enjoy a darker shade of life.

For sophisticated listeners of so-called "background music" who cut their teeth on musical delights such as Brian Eno, Popol Vuh, Tangerine Dream, and Vangelis, Robert Lloyd Anderson's second CD Wet will join that exalted pantheon with flying colors.
Anderson unabashedly writes background music for the darker sexual scenes and sub-space pleasures. Like the soundtracks to Blade Runner and Sorcerer, the beat is elusive yet steady with repetitive upward sweeps and glides that--punctuated by the slap of crop, flogger or whip-- don't so much ease the pain as darken and shadow the ripples. |
