    Artist History
The story really begins with Shaun and Shane. At the time both were looking for someone to get together with and just "jam". They were united through a mutual friend named Tommy (who currently plays guitar for bud). After the first jam session the two realized that there was something special and worth cultivating. They went on to form a female fronted band called "Girl in a Box". They actually ended up playing their first show without a bass player! Eventually, the project succumbed to personal differences and some of the members left to pursue other interests. Despite the unfortunate situation Shaun and Shane decided to keep their dreams alive. The two recruited additional members and chose to drop the previous band name. The resulting four-piece lineup was the first incarnation of what would be known as Darling Sinister. This lineup was far more successful than the previous project. The band played many shows all over the central Texas region and released a four song EP called "Big Boss" (limited copies of "Big Boss" are still available). One October evening in 2001 Darling Sinister played a show at the Triple Crown in San Marcos, opening up for a band called Fondue (Jon's previous band). After the show, Jon and Shaun approached each other and expressed an interest in working together. Darling Sinister had been playing around with the idea of adding a second guitarist. Coincidentally, Fondue had already planned to call it quits after that night's show! Jon began jamming with the band two weeks later and was subsequently offered a position in the band. This added a completely new element to the overall sound. There was so much more that could be done with two guitarists. Shaun and Jon quickly capitalized on the sickest possibilities. A few months later Darling Sinister lost their bass player, who also decided to pursue other personal interests. They quickly began searching for the person who would be right guy for the job. When Zach walked in the door they knew he was "that guy". Zach brought with him a completely unique approach to music and his instrument that has become an important facet of the band's sound. Some of the most difficult setbacks the band had to endure involved the departure of vocalists. Upon the loss of the last vocalist the members of the band decided that they were not going to go through that again. The band put all new applicants for the position through a rigorous, three-part audition process. All together they probably looked at over twenty potential singers but, when it was all said and done Jeannie stood out far above the rest. She represented everything the band was looking for in a vocalist, a frontperson and a voice for what the band was trying to communicate through their music. Today, Darling Sinister is a five-piece alt. metal band whose mission is to breathe new life into a scene that has grown monotonous, old, saturated and stale. It's time for new noise. Darling Sinister has a sound that is truly unique and defies categorization. The music is an experiential journey through the entire spectrum of human emotion and political incorrectness. The voice is one that speaks passionately of heightened states of awareness, consciousness and disgust for the current state of the collective human experience. Welcome to our world. . . . .
