Artist History
New York-based singer-songwriter Fergus McCormick brings memorable melodies and wry, trenchant lyrics to his ballads.
His debut album, "Fergus McCormick", opens with "Roman Candle," the story of a cuckold who cannot but continue to love his newly married Italian wife, and a testament to the fleeting, irresistible nature of women.
McCormick's characters yearn for their women, as in "Yvonne", where the narrator outwardly scorns the object of his desire, while inwardly confessing his adoration for her at the end of the song.
Raw sexual energy is also depicted in the subtle "Blue Karmann Ghia", a conversation between a skeptic and a true believer in love. Meanwhile, another type of song emerges in "Extremadura Love" and "Mombasa in the Rain", which depict both emotional release and psychological conflict in exotic locales.
